Sree Jayendra is champion

COIMBATORE : Sree Jayendra Saraswathi Vidyalaya scored a two-wicket win over R.K. Sreerangammal to emerge the champion of the CDCA under-15 inter-schools cricket tournament, for the N. Giridhari Prasad Trophy, at the Forest College grounds here on Friday.

The scores: R.K. Sreerangammal 115 for eight in 35 overs (Gokul five for 24) lost to Sree Jayendra 119 for eight in 34.4 overs.

CKPC advances

Christ the King Polytechnic College (CKPC) and St. Michaels Home for the Children fashioned comfortable wins over their opponents to enter the league round of the Bishop Ambrose Trophy football tournament at the CKPC grounds here on Friday.

St. Michaels HSS and Govt. HSS (Anamalai) were the other two teams to make it to the league stage.

The results: CKPC 2 (Arun 2) bt Sri Narayanaguru PC 1; St. Michael's HSS bt Corporation HSS (Ramanathapuram) 6-5 via tie-breaker; Govt HSS (Anamalai) 2 bt Samuthur Ramaiyengar HSS 1; St. Michael's Home for Children 2 bt CSI HSS 1.

Mr. K.S. Kasiviswanathan was elected president of the District Cricket Association of Namakkal (DCAN) at the annual general meeting held recently.
