YSR to lay stone for two textile parks

More than 800 acres of land in Nellore allotted

NELLORE: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will visit Nellore district on Sunday to lay the foundation stone for two mega textile parks at Menakur of Naidupet mandal.

Later, he will address a public meeting at the village before returning to Hyderabad, according to District Collector M Ravi Chandra. Both the units have 10-lakh-spindle capacity and can generate employment avenues to around 20,000 people at a ratio of one employee for 50 spindles.

MoU signed

As many as 12 textile firms have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government to set up two mega textile parks with an investment of Rs 1,500 crores. Accordingly, more than 800 acres of land near Naidupet has been identified for the two parks.

Meanwhile, TDP leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy demanded that the Government announce compensation for farmers whose land would be acquired for the textile park, before the foundation stone was laid.
