Anantapur: Development works, particularly improvement of facilities in railway stations, were being taken up on a large scale, according to Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Guntakal Division of South Central Railway Kishan Swarup. Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that the meter gauge trains between Guntakal and Pakala would be run between Dharmavaram and Pakala from December due to gauge conversion. Extension of platforms in major stations to suit trains with 24 coaches, improvement of waiting halls, lighting, cleanliness, on board medical facilities, setting up ATMs in railway stations, opening UTS (unreserved ticketing system), which would enable passengers to purchase general tickets three days in advance, were being taken up. Anantapur station was being improved with Rs. 40 lakhs, he said.
Pension Adalat
Earlier, Mr. Swarup, who spoke at the Pension and Staff Grievance Adalat, said timely redressal of grievances would improve the performance of employees. Several departments in the division had already reached a stage where there were no pending grievances, he said.
