Women in the forefront in donating blood

BERHAMPUR: Women were in the forefront when it came to donating at a blood donation camp organised by the city branch of Integrated Child Development Scheme here on Friday.

Most of the women who voluntarily donated blood were Anganwadi workers, members of Self Help Groups and staff of the ICDS. As many as 32 women donated blood in the camp, Rabindra Kumar Panigrahi, a senior officer of Rushikulya Gramya Bank, said. The camp was supported by the Gramya Bank.

Blood collected at he camp was sent to the blood bank of the local Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital.

The camp was inaugurated by Berhampur Sub-Collector Ranjit Kumar Mohanty. Project officer ICDS Mohini Sahu was present on the occasion.

"We extended our bank's support for organising the camp. We have not kept any pre-conditions for the use of blood collected at today's camp," Mr Panigrahi said.
