BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said that his government has decided to increase allocation of funds for the smooth running of police stations across the State. The measure would help the police intensify patrolling in their respective areas. Speaking in the Assembly during the discussion on budgetary allocation for the Home Department, Mr. Patnaik said that petrol allotment would be increased to 150 litres in rural police stations and 200 litres for police stations in the naxalite-affected regions. The Chief Minister also announced that the imprest amount to be allotted to the police stations would be enhanced to Rs. 4,000 in urban areas and Rs. 6,000 in rural areas. Moreover, the Officer-in-Charge and Inspector-in-Charge of all the police stations in the State would now be entitled to get their mobile phone bills reimbursed up to Rs. 500, Mr. Patnaik said.
