Infrastructure: State reiterates commitment
Staff Reporter
Bangalore:
Reiterating the State Government's commitment to create infrastructure, Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu said on Friday that second and third-tier cities in the State are being brought under the purview of Urban development department.
Speaking at a panel discussion on infrastructure organised by India Today Council on News and Society, Mr. Naidu said, "We have been building industrial hubs at Dharwad, Ramadurga and Bellary so that industries can move away from Bangalore."
Thirty-four Special Economic Zones had been sanctioned for the State, he said. The State was also contemplating building elevated highways from Bangalore to Nelamangala, Hosur, Kengeri and Devanahalli. Peripheral roads to reduce congestion in the city were also being developed, he said.
