Two men attack driver, take away vehicle

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Two men attacked the driver of a sports utility vehicle they had hired from a travel agency in Gandhinagar and drove away the vehicle on Thursday night.

The police said that on Thursday evening two men, who had checked in at a hotel on OTC Road in Cottonpet, requested the hotel staff to arrange a vehicle for them to go around the city.

The hotel staff called a travel agency in Gandhinagar and arranged for a vehicle. Around 6.30 p.m. the two men boarded the vehicle at the hotel and went to Brigade Road. After spending some time at a restaurant there, they asked the driver Lakshmana Gowda to take them to Whitefield. On reaching a secluded road near Channasandra, one of them asked the driver to slow down the vehicle. As Gowda slowed the vehicle, the two held him by his collar, assaulted him and sped away after pushing him out of the vehicle, the police said.
