NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old RTV driver who had allegedly left an accident victim to die near the Najafgarh drain on Thursday night has been arrested by the South-West Delhi police. He has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. According to the police, Kumari Baby (22), a resident of Dabri, had gone for work to Mayapuri. On her way back, she alighted from a bus at Madhu Vihar bus stand in Dwarka around 9-30 p.m. As soon as she got down, Baby was knocked down by a speeding RTV. When other commuters and passers-by caught hold of him, he promised that he would take the victim to a hospital in his vehicle. Believing the driver, the crowd that had gathered let the vehicle go. But instead of taking Baby to a hospital, the RTV driver dumped her near Najafgarh drain.

In the morning, the police got a call that the body of a woman was lying near the drain. The police reached the spot and identified the body as that of Baby.
