NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice to India International Centre here on a public interest litigation seeking directions to the club to disclose the criteria for grant of its membership. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir directed the elite club to file a reply to the plea by January 15. The petitioner, Rajesh Mehta, through his counsel R.K. Saini submitted that despite the national character of the club, the process for grant of membership was arbitrary, capricious and devoid of transparency.
After a gap of 15 years the club had last year invited applications for membership without bringing out any advertisement. More than 6,000 people had applied
