It's all about style, action and mobikes

Dhoom: 2 (Hindi)

Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Aishwarya Rai

Director: Sanjay Gadhvi

Style, skin show, machismo, bikes, action... "Dhoom: 2" from Yash Raj Films has all that it has promised. Opening up on the screen with a mind-blowing shot of a moving train in the Namibian desert, the way it introduces Hrithik Roshan to the audience is far superior than that of John Abraham in "Dhoom". In fact, all the characters, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Aishwarya Rai and Rimi Sen flow in to the narrative with a bang. As in "Dhoom", director Sanjay Gadhvi has made a conscious effort at celebrating only the characters, their slip-ups, brain waves and flamboyance at the cost of the plot.

Hrithik's exploits as a cross-country robber of high order don't get their due merit. Audience is supposed to forget what happens after `A' steals a queen's crown here, a maharaj's sword there. In fact, the first half begins to drag as only Hrithik sizzles. All Abhishek (as ACP Jai) does is brood. Bipasha, as ACP Shonali Bose, keeps practice-shooting in a body-hugging top and Uday endlessly drops boring one-liners. Rimi Sen as Sweety Dixit, Jai's pregnant wife, just sits and eats for two.

Thankfully, the second half picks pace. Shonali turns Monali, a free-thinking twin sister, living by the seaside in Rio, flaunting a two-piece swimsuit and `A' reveals his name, Aryan, to fellow con girl Sunehri (Ash). While Hrithik shines throughout the film, Abhishek pales in comparison to the earlier Jai. Hrithik in each frame proves that he is the only actor in Bollywood who can give even King Khan a good run for his money. Be it in dancing or in drama.

Ash Vs Bips

Aishwarya might sport super abs, painfully gained for this film, but Bipasha walks away with the cake. The brawny dame of "No Entry" now has an hour-glass figure and lithe salsa steps. Ash though dazzles in the chartbusting score "Crazy Kiya Re".

If star power is not enough an invite for "Dhoom: 2", then go to enjoy some amazing special effects and action sequences. Also, go for the splash of colours in each frame. Bike freaks too will not be disappointed. The last chase is on the vroom-ing bikes by the way. Go to marvel at the many get-ups of Hrithik.

But don't go for the twist in the end. Before Aryan and Sunehri know what will happen, sadly, you will know. It is unlikely to create a `dhoom' in the box office -- especially since a sequel featuring one Munna Bhai refuses to vacate the No.1 slot.
