DSS activists stage rasta roko

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS), Ambedkar unit, on Saturday staged a rasta roko and did not allow Minister for Environment and Forests C. Chennigappa's car to pass on Bannerghatta Road.

Later, they presented a list of demands to the Minister and urged him to take action as soon as possible. They did not want the authorities to disturb their shops and houses that lined the Bannerghatta Road, up to the biological park. The authorities had been threatening to clear the "encroachments" for a long time, they claimed. The DSS activists also urged the Minister to allot them houses under the Ashraya scheme. Mr. Chennigappa promised to hold a meeting with officials concerned.
