Kokrajhar (Assam): An improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered and five persons were arrested on Sunday from a house in Kokrajhar district in Assam, defence sources said. The IED, fitted with a timer device, was found in the compound of Abdul Jafar's house in Makati village, close to the Assam-West Bengal border. Troops of the Red Horns Division arrested five persons in this connection and handed them over to the police. The explosive was defused by the Army's bomb disposal squad, the sources said. The Army suspect it to be the handiwork of either the ULFA or some ISI-backed outfits.
