`Traditional medicines do not have side effects'

Health check-up camp for journalists organised

HASSAN: Traditional medicines are best for health as they do not have any side effects. If we adopt basic principles in life, we will be free from any disease, said Prasanna Rao, principal, SDM Ayurveda College.

He was speaking at a health check-up camp organised for the Hassan district journalists and their families at the SDM Ayurvedic Hospital. The programme was organised by Hassan District Journalists' Union and SDM Ayurvedic College. Dr. Rao said Tulasi leaves that are used in Tirtha (holy water) is not limited for religious purpose. It is the best medicine. Its leaves are best for heart diseases, allergy, colic (stomach pain), acidity and headache. If one breaths air that is passed through these plants, it is good for health.

Earlier, inaugurating the camp, Deputy Commissioner Ashwathanarayana Gowda said if one had physical health, then only he or she could work effectively.

Superintendent of Police Panduranga Rane spoke.

Zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer F.R. Jamaadar said Ayurvedic treatment was the best and health is the basic necessity. Paediatrician Srinidhi Acharya spoke on importance of liver protection.

Hassan District Working Journalists' Union president Shivananda Tagadur said journalists from all over the district were undergoing health check-up at the camp. Secretary Prasanna Kumar welcomed. Treasurer Jagadish also spoke.
