Bangalore: Human rights activist Teesta Setalvad on Sunday accused the police of failing to discharge their constitutional duty of protecting the people, irrespective of their religious beliefs. She was speaking after inaugurating a rally organised by the Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike. The rally, the speakers declared, had been organised to warn the Bharatiya Janata Party-Janata Dal (S) coalition Government against taking decisions supporting the Sangh Parivar's designs of changing the secular face of Bababudangiri in Chikmagalur. Ms. Setalvad said the rally would strengthen the secular forces.
