Traders for community policing

Staff Correspondent

Belgaum: It was an initiative taken up by a few merchants of Khade Bazaar in the city to involve themselves in community policing about eight years ago. Now, it is time for other merchants in the city to emulate their example and join hands with police in preventing thefts and shop-breaking incidents.

The suggestion was made at a "friendly" meeting held between the members of Khade Bazaar Merchants Association and Circle Inspector of Khade Bazaar police station C.V. Patil on Saturday.

Mr. Patil appealed to other merchants to cooperate with the police in preventing thefts.
