YSR to campaign

KARIMNAGAR: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will launch his election campaign in Karimnagar parliamentary constituency on November 30. He will address a public meeting in Jagtial town and participate in road shows.TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu too will participate in road shows in Karimnagar on Monday and Tuesday. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh will campaign for BJP in Sircilla town. The party is also planning to invite Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to Karimnagar on November 30 or December 1. — Staff Reporter

APCLC plea

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) has demanded production in court of Sarala, wife of Maoist leader Gautam, who was killed in an encounter on November 23 following her arrest in Vijayawada on Friday. In a statement issued here, D. Suresh Kumar, joint secretary, alleged that Gautam was taken into custody in Vijayawada and shot dead. It was later shown as an encounter killing in East Godavari district. He apprehended a threat to Sarala's life. - Special Correspondent

Draft rolls on website

Hyderabad: The draft electoral rolls of Graduates and Teachers constituencies for the entire State have been placed on the Chief Electoral Officer's web site http://www.ceoandhra.nic.in. These draft rolls can be downloaded. Electronic copy of the draft rolls can also be obtained by applying to the District Election Officer concerned free of charge. Printed draft rolls will also be supplied on payment of cost of paper or cost of photocopying. - Staff Reporter

organising a two-day national seminar on `Intellectual Property Rights' on November 29 and 30. Retired Supreme Court judge Justice B.P. Jeevan Reddy will deliver the inaugural address on November 29. Maoist killed

KHAMMAM: A naxalite of the CPI (Maoist) was killed in an encounter with the police in Battenapalli forests of Charla mandal on Sunday evening. The combing parties, which recovered a single barrel gun from the spot, are on the lookout for other members of the dalam, who managed to escape. The naxalite killed in the encounter was around 25 years. The body will be brought to Charla for identification and post-mortem. - Staff Reporter

3 killed in accident

ADILABAD: A. Mahesh, 14, A. Rajasekhar, 15 and Srikant, 13, all students from Narlapur village near Mancherial were killed in a road accident in the wee hours of Sunday. According to police the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided with a jeep. - Staff Reporter

Sad end for couple

NIZAMABAD: In a tragic incident a young couple belonging to Darpally mandal headquarter in the district breathed their last in a gap of few minutes, on Sunday afternoon.

One Shajahan (25) of West Bengal, employed in a gold polishing unit, suddenly collapsed after suffering a bout of fits. He died while being shifted to a hospital. Unable to bear the agony, his wife Sahana Begum (20) died of cardiac arrest a few minutes after his death. - Staff Reporter

Two killed in accident

KURNOOL: Two persons died when an autorickshaw hit a stationary truck at Bayyanapallimetta near Chagalamarri in Kurnool district on Saturday. The victim S. Pamuleti (38) and Narasimhulu (35) were returning after buying rams at Kadapa district. Special Correspondent

Meditation camp

Madanapalle: A meditation camp was held under the aegis of Madanapalle Pyramid Spiritual Society. Some 250 persons, including advocates and the court staff participated. Correspondent

Madanapalle: After inspecting the sub-jail at Valmikipuram, DIG, Rayalaseema range, B. Sunil Kumar said that works to the tune of Rs. 16 lakhs will be taken up shortly. Correspondent

Burglars arrested

Madanapalle: The police arrested a gang of 18 persons, among them pseudo naxalites who were involved in a murder and looting of many petrol bunks at gunpoint. Correspondent

Legal literacy

KADAPA: A legal literacy camp on children's rights and duties will be held in Government Juvenile Home for Boys here at 6 p.m. on November 27, home superintendent S.C.H. Ramakrishna Reddy said. Judicial officers and advocates would participate, he added.

Three hurt in clash

KURNOOL: Three Congress workers suffered injuries, one of them seriously, in a group clash at Lingamdinne in Gonegandla mandal of Kurnool district on Sunday. K. Dastagiri suffered a stab injury. The victims lodged a complaint that TDP workers had attacked them.

Village secretaries appointed

KAKINADA: Ninety-eight candidates were selected for appointment as village secretaries on contract basis, in the existing vacancies, according to the District Panchayat Officer. All of them would be given six days training, in batches, at the VDO's training centre, Samalkot. The training to the first batch would commence on November 27 and for the second batch on December 4. On completion of the training, counselling would be held. - Correspondent

BSNL mobile cash counters

Srikakulam: For the benefit of customers, the Srikakulam circle of BSNL will set up mobile cash counters at the following places: Veeraghattam (Nov. 27 and 28), Ranasthalam, Ponduru, Pydibheemavaram (Nov. 29) and Kotturu and Heeramandalam (Nov. 30). Telephone bills could be paid both in cash and DD, according to a press release here.

Blood donation camp

Srikakulam: District Collector V. N. Vishnu on Sunday stressed the importance of setting up National Cadet Corps (NCC) in all colleges in a phased manner. He inaugurated a blood donation camp at the local India Red Cross society where the NCC candidate donated blood. - Special Correspondent

Rice distributed

Kakinada: Rice at the rate of 10 kg to each family was distributed by city TDP leaders Dusarlapudi Ramanaraju, Bolla Krishna Mohan and Kotipalli Lakshmanarao to fire victims of Dwarakanagar, Mehar Nagar area of 45 division on Saturday. They also arranged food to the fire victims. - Correspondent

Farmhand drowned

Kakinada: A farm worker, Veeravalli Devasahayam (20), was drowned while bathing in Godavari river near Vaddiparru village under Atreyapuram police station limits in the early hours of Sunday.

In another case, Gangireddi Manikyalarao (35) a motorcyclist, who suffered injuries in ann accident near Rayudupakalu succumbed to the injuries on Sunday. The Sarpavaram police registered a case.
