  • Virendra Kumar Pankaj of UP set a new record in the under-20 boys 400m
  • Rajasthan's Manju Bala created a new record in the girls' under-18 hammer

BANGALORE: Three National records were set on the second day of the 22nd junior National athletics championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Sunday.

In the 400m boys under-20 section Virendra Kumar Pankaj of Uttar Pradesh, with a splendid burst in the final stretch, won in 46.99 seconds besting his own previous mark of 47.16 seconds set in July this year.

    Good run

Records came in the girls under-16 100 metres hurdles when Tamil Nadu's G. Gayathri clocked 14.70 seconds to better the previous mark of 14.88s set by Karnataka's Pallavi Sukumar in Chennai last year.
