CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to spend Rs 200 crore to improve the condition of the roads in the state under `Bharat Nirman Yojana' during the current financial year, an official spokesman said here on Sunday. ``The work to construct the 135 km long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway to connect National Highway numbers 1, 2, 8 and 10 and the four-lane Zirakpur-Panchkula-Kalka stretch of National Highway number 22 have also been initiated,'' he said. Old bridges were being repaired and widened with the loan assistance of Rs 60 crore from NABARD and a project costing Rs 371 crore has been prepared to upgrade all bye-passes falling in the National Capital Region(NCR), he said.
Construction of bridges
The state government plans to spend Rs 872 crore on the construction of bridges and development of roads, he said. The work has also begun on elevated and underground road project on National Highway number one in Panipat at a cost of Rs 417.85 crore to control hazards due to increased traffic, he said. The work on four lane of 140 km long stretch of National Highway number 10 at Delhi-Rohtak-Hisar-Sirsa has also been initiated, he added. To ease traffic from Faridabad to Delhi, work on National Highway number 2 known as Badarpur project have been undertaken at a cost of Rs 267.50 crore, he said.
