JAIPUR: Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil has called for concerted efforts for promoting public-private partnership in the field of water conservation to meet the challenge of paucity of safe drinking water. She said the available water should be utilised in a prudent manner. Addressing a conference on "Save water, save earth'' here on Saturday, Ms. Patil said the adoption of modern scientific practices was the need of the hour to conserve water and farmers should be trained in them. She said the conservation of water should be treated as a development issue rather than a problem. The conference was organised jointly by the Rotary Club and the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. Ms. Patil said adequate attention should be paid to the supply of clean drinking water to all sections of population in order to maintain their good health. State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Kalulal Gujjar said the declining ground water level was a cause of concern.
