CHENNAI: Magician Arun will be performing an "escape stunt" at the Loyola College to create awareness about AIDS on Monday. The show, which is open to the public, will feature Arun escaping from a box suspended in the air by a crane and set on fire, after he is put inside handcuffed and chained. Titled "Escape from AIDS," he hopes that the programme would inspire the AIDS-affected to believe that it is possible to lead a normal life. The 23-year old law graduate has been practising magic for eight years now. He has been working on perfecting this stunt for the past four years. The escape stunt has not been attempted by any other magician in the country, he claims. He is driven by a desire to achieve the `unique and extraordinary'. "My interest in magic grew with the need to do something that people will associate uniquely with me. Being polio-affected myself, I would like to set an example to others in difficult situation," he said. C. Shylendra Babu and students of the Loyola College would witness the feat. The programme is being organised in association with the Loyola College at 11 a.m. on Monday. Arun, a resident of Villivakkam, would also be performing with magician Senthil at the Rani Seethai Hall on December 2 for a event. He has performed a straitjacket escape stunt for the police staff recently. He has also driven blindfolded from Koyambedu bus stand to Spencer's Plaza previously and raised funds for the Law College. Arun can be contacted at 98407 63335 or 99404 63335.
