CHENNAI : The railway police arrested two persons and seized 1,600 sachets of arrack here on Sunday. Police said that on a tip-off, they secured two passengers, Thesappan (27) and Pavalakodi (20) of Kasimedu, who alighted from the Bangalore Mail at the Central Railway Station. It was found that they had allegedly hidden 1,600 sachets of arrack in their bags. A case was registered and the two were remanded to custody.
Office ransacked
Unidentified miscreants barged into the office premises of a social worker in Flower Bazaar police district on Saturday night and ransacked many files. According to the police, the office situated on Philips Street in Law college police station limits belonged to "Traffic" Ramasamy. Many files and records were missing, while there were traces of some papers being burnt on the floor, he had stated in the complaint.
Antisocial held
The police arrested a `wanted' antisocial element identified as Baba Suresh (25) here on Sunday. It is said the accused had allegedly waylaid a merchant in RK Nagar police station limits 10 days ago and escaped with Rs. 25,000 in cash.
