Rs. 1 cr. seized from passenger

CHENNAI: Officials of the Income Tax (Investigation Wing) department intercepted a passenger who arrived from New Delhi on Saturday night at the Kamaraj Domestic Terminal here and seized Rs. 1 crore in cash. He was running educational institutions in Thanjavur.

According to IT officials, the seizure was effected following a tip-off. The news was confirmed during baggage screening at the Delhi airport. On arrival, the Income Tax officials in Chennai detained him. They conducted simultaneous raids on two premises in Thanjavur.
