Plea to remove `unsafe' tankers

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Federation of Association of Colonies and Apartments (FACA) on Sunday demanded immediate removal of unsafe water tankers of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board from plying on city roads.

General secretary of FACA V. Kamesh Babu criticised the water board for plying over 150 water tankers despite the Road Transport Authority making it clear that they were not safe, according to a press release.

FACA pointed out that the board should look to acquire new water tankers and phase out the old water tankers as soon as possible and avoid frequent road accidents that have resulted in the loss of precious lives.
