Markets reopen in Saharanpur

Saharanpur: Markets reopened in the town on Sunday after a two-day bandh against the communal violence, which claimed the life of a BJP youth wing leader even as authorities denied permission to the Samajwadi Party to take out a peace rally.

Rapid Armed Force and police personnel continued to be deployed in view of the BJP's indefinite dharna at Ghanta Ghar Chowk against Thursday's incident when SP and BJP workers clashed during the first meeting of the newly-formed municipal corporation. State BJP chief Kesrinath Tripathi visited the affected areas. — PTI
