Port Elizabeth: Rahul Dravid has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs of the five-match MTN series against South Africa due to an avulsion fracture of the middle finger in his right hand. The news comes as another blow to an embattled Indian side, which is already without key batsman Yuvraj Singh in the South African campaign. Among the specialist batsmen, Dravid alone has displayed some form in the on-going series. The Indian captain hurt his finger while attempting to catch Shaun Pollock at slip off Harbhajan Singh during the third ODI at Newlands on Sunday. Vice-captain Virender Sehwag will lead India in the remaining ODIs, here, on Wednesday, and at Centurion, on Sunday.
Laxman to fly in
Indian team media manager Rajan Nair said senior batsman V.V.S. Laxman will replace Dravid in the last two ODIs. Laxman's travel arrangements are expected to be completed by Tuesday morning. It would be interesting to see whether Laxman can reach here in time for Wednesday's day\night ODI. Dravid will continue to stay with the team. He would also be monitored constantly. The Indian captain is expected to regain his fitness before the first Test, beginning in Johannesburg on December 15. The team arrived here on Monday afternoon without its captain. Dravid will join the side on Tuesday morning. Special Correspondent
