2 held for murder

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Two young men have been arrested on charges of abducting an accountant and killing him before fleeing with Rs. 3 lakhs that he had withdrawn from ICICI Bank at Punjabi Bagh in West Delhi on November 9.

The close-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage led to identification of the culprits who were found involved in two more cases of robbery.

Pankaj Aggarwal, who worked with an interior decorator firm, was reported missing after he did not turn up till late on November 9 evening. Suspecting that he had been abducted, the police registered a case.

His body, which bore gunshot injuries, was recovered three days later behind Maharaja Harishchandra Hospital in Narela.

A team comprising 18 personnel and officers was constituted to investigate the case.

The police found that a similar incident had been reported in Rohini this October, in which one Anand Pandey was abducted and robbed of the money he had withdrawn from the Rohini branch of ICICI Bank. The police collected the CCTV footage from both the banks of the day on which the incidents took place.

The suspect, Neeraj Bansal, was tracked down. During interrogation, he purportedly confessed to his involvement in both the cases. At Neeraj's instance, the police arrested Arvind on Sunday.
