KOZHIKODE: Kottookkullangara Sree Ayyappa Temple situated in Kakodi panchayat, 12 km from the city, which is believed to be nearly 3,000-years-old, is being decked up for the Sreemad Bhagavatha Sathram. The sathram, an annual event, attracts a huge crowd of devotees. The deity of the temple is Lord Ayyappan, depicted as a hunter (vana sastha). The sathram will be held from December 2 to 9, V.K. Eradi and K.M. Suresh Chandran, members of the temple programme committee, said in Kozhikode. Brahmasree Malliyoor Sankaran Namboodiri will deliver the benedictory address at the inaugural ceremony on December 2. A question and answer session later in the day would be presided over by Brahmasree N.V. Nambiathiri. The programmes will include, Vishnu Sahasranamam recital, Sreemad Bhagavatham recital and Sreekrishnavatharam recital. Discourses by scholars will be another highlight. `Kapilam,' `Dakshayagam,' `Dhruva Charitham,' `Prudu Charitham,' `Puranjanopakhyanam,' `Rishabha Charitham,' `Sreekrishnavatharam' and `Prahlada Sthuthi' will be some of the themes for the discourses. Kathakali performance based on `Kirathasoonu Charitham' will be presented by Kalamandalam Kesavan Namboodiri and party on December 2 and `Krishnattam' will be presented by the Guruvayur Devaswom. The programme will conclude with the `Bhagavatha Sathram Samrpanam' by A.V. Vasudevan Potti on December 9.
