TIRUPATI: A number of Telugu literary luminaries and film personalities are to attend the `Sahithi Samskruthi Mahotsavaalu' beginning here on Thursday. Gnanpith awardee C. Narayana Reddy will inaugurate the event by lighting the `akshara jyoti.' Beginning on a religious note M. Sivaprasad and V. Chinaveerabhadrudu will speak on `Vedartham - Varthamanam' and `Upanishatsaram' respectively, while K. Venkata Reddy, N. Guruprasad Rao and H.S. Brahmananda will speak on Ramayana, Mahabharata and Pothana Bhagavatham respectively. The focus of the second day will be on Sathaka literature. Muktevi Bharati will speak on `Molla Ramayanam,' A. Rammohan Rao on `Bhava Kavitvam,' IIT wizard Chukka Ramaiah on `Inti Basha,' Mallemala on `Sathakalu - Satyalu,' Medasani Mohan on `Srikalahastiswara Sathakam' and C. Vedavathi on Viswanatha's works.
Medieval literature
Focussing on medieval literature, film actor Tanikella Bharani will speak on `Gurazada Kanyasulkam,' S.V. Satyanarayana on `Chillara Devullu, Modugupoolu' and Jayaprabha on `Annamayya sankirtans.' Katta Narasimhulu will elucidate on the contribution of the British to Telugu, S. Ramesh Babu will dwell on language revolution and Vakulabharanam Ramakrishna on `Kandukuri-the builder of modern Andhra.'
Feminism
The fourth day will see the emergence of `Feminism.' V. Veeralakshmi Devi, Sumati Narendra and Volga will speak on Chalam, women's enlightenment etc. On the fifth day, lyricist Jonnavithula will speak on parody, Y. Sudhakar on travelogue, film writer M.V.S. Haranatha Rao on `modern plays', and Suddala Ashokteja, Sudhama and Omkar will speak on folk, child literature and theatre-TV respectively. On the last day, journalist K. Ramachandra Murthy, Yandamoori Veerendranath and Ghantasala Ratnakumar will speak on media language, personality development and cine music. Later, S.P. Balu, K.B. Lakshmi and Ravi Kondalrao will speak on `Telugu padya vilasam,' human relations and cine sahityam respectively. Film actors T.L. Kantha Rao, Krishnakumari, Gummadi, Kanchana, Dhulipala, Bapu-Ramana, publishers B. Viswanatha Reddy (Chandamama), Vemuri Balaram (Swati), P. Rajesara Rao (Visalandhra) will be honoured on the occasion.
