VILLUPURAM: Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin called upon officials and elected representatives to concentrate on speedy implementation of welfare schemes. Addressing a review meeting here on Tuesday, Mr. Stalin said Chief Minister M. Karuananidhi was laying emphasis on providing basic amenities to meet the expectations of the people. Therefore, pending schemes should be implemented expeditiously, and new schemes should be taken up in right earnest. If there was any undue delay, the person concerned would be held responsible, he said. Union Minister of State for Law K. Venkatapathi, Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudi, and officials participated in the meeting. Later, in the evening Mr. Stalin inaugurated new classrooms built at the Valavanur Government Boys' Higher Secondary School and disbursed Rs. 48 crore under the Education for All Scheme to village education committees for creating necessary infrastructure.
