Rupee ends weak


MUMBAI: The rupee turned weak on Tuesday against the U.S. currency and ended lower at Rs. 44.69/70 a dollar due to fresh dollar demand after rise in crude oil prices.

In active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit opened steady at Monday's close of Rs. 44.65/66. It later fell sharply to a low of Rs. 44.77, before ending at Rs. 44.69/70, sharply lower than the previous close.
