NIZAMABAD: A beedi roller, Kammari Eswari, 22, of Annaram village reportedly immolated herself at her house on Tuesday. Eswari, the sole bread-winner of a family of four, apparently took the step since she felt that she would be left jobless if the G.O. to beedi firms to print the danger mark on labels was implemented.

NANDYAL: In a suicide pact, a woman and her two children committed suicide by jumping into the KC canal at Nandyal on Monday. The bodies were fished out on Tuesday. The woman was identified as Laxmidevi (30), Ashok (8) and Nirmala (10).

HYDERABAD: Low-cost airline SpiceJet will commence daily flights from Hyderabad to Jaipur and Ahmedabad on December 18. ANANTAPUR: One Padmavathi (20) of Jonna Street in Kadiri in the district allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on Monday, unable to bear harassment by her husband Srinivasulu. Srinivasulu's mother Laxmidevi (50) allegedly torched herself on Tuesday.-Staff Reporter

House panel to

visit two districts

ONGOLE: The House committee on illegal occupation of properties of Christian missionaries and educational institutions in Guntur and Prakasam districts will visit Ongole on November 30.

The committee will receive representations from Christian leaders at the guest house here at 10 a.m. on Thursday and hold a review meeting with Collector and other officials.

The committee will leave Ongole by Hyderabad Express at 9.45 p.m. the same day. -Special Correspondent

Science expo

SRIKAKULAM: The latent creative talent among students was at display at the science exhibition held at the PMRC centre in Sitampeta, the headquarters of Integrated Tribal Development Agency.

Stalls that reflected the innovative spirit of students ranged from global warming to hazards of cigarette smoking, from hydel power generation to manufacture of multipurpose pump sets and solar water heater.
