ROLE MODEL: TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu looks on as party nominee L Ramana rolls beedis in Vedurugatta village on Tuesday. Photo R. Raju
KARIMNAGAR: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu continued to target Congress and TRS for the imbroglio on beedi logo during his election campaign for the second day on Tuesday. In an attempt to show solidarity with the beedi makers, Mr. Naidu visited some houses in Boinpally, where women were rolling beedis and assured them of the party's full support. As he spoke to the women, TDP candidate L Ramana sat down and rolled a few beedis. Introducing Mr. Ramana, the TDP president said he belonged to BC community and had rolled beedis during his younger days. He said the TDP candidate would strive to protect the interests of beedi workers unlike the feudal lords in the fray.
Boost to cadre
His two-day whirlwind tour and road shows in the constituency seemed to have boosted the morale of the party rank and file. He was accorded a warm welcome by party leaders and cadre at all the road shows in Metpally, Buggaram, Jagtial, Choppadandi, Karimnagar, Sircilla and Nerella assembly segments. He was able to attract large gathering at all the road shows. Women outnumbered men at his meetings.
