KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode District Motor and Engineering Workers Union (CITU) has urged the Government to allow private buses that have been grounded because of the absence of speed governors to operate till a final decision is taken on the issue. The step was necessitated as the State Government had decided to implement the Supreme Court ruling on fixing speed governors in public transport buses. Workers attached to the grounded buses had no pay. In a memorandum, the union wanted the authorities concerned to find a solution to the crisis.
More time
The union said that as per reports, the Government was given more time for fixing speed governors. Union city committee secretary K. Devarajan spoke at the meeting.
