Apply IT in common man's life: Ekbal

Neurosurgery is making use of the possibilities of IT

FEROKE: The Farook College Library and Information Science Alumni Association (FLISA) on Tuesday launched an annual extension lecture series at the college, near here. The former Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University B. Ekbal delivered the inaugural lecture.

Speaking on `IT as an educational tool,' Dr. Ekbal said IT should not be limited to educational curricula and professional education alone. It should be applied in all walks of life, he said.

He pointed out that the medical field, particularly the area of neurosurgery, was widely making use of the possibilities of IT.

Empowerment

Citing the success of the Akshaya e-literacy project, Dr. Ekbal said IT should be used for the empowerment of women.

Farook College Principal A. Kuttialikutty presided. T.P.O. Nasiruddin, Head, Department of Library and Information Science, welcomed the gathering. E.P. Imbichikoya, secretary, Farook College Old Students' Association (FOSA), offered felicitations. T.A. Abdul Azees, president, FLISA, proposed a vote of thanks.
