Girl injured as BSF, BDR exchange fire
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA:
A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured in the Goalpukur thana area of West Bengal's Uttar Dinajpur district during a fire exchange on Tuesday between jawans of the Border Security Force and the Bangladesh Rifles across the border.
The girl, a resident of a village on the Indian side of the border, was hospitalised in a critical condition, according to the local police.
The firing, which lasted nearly three hours, was a sequel to the shooting down by a BSF sentry of a Bangladeshi national who was trying to sneak back to his country.
