Veteran folk artiste Pujari is dead

Belgaum: Veteran folk artiste and connoisseur Ningaiahswami Pujari died owing to old age and illness at his Gokak residence on Tuesday. He was 82.

A large number of his admirers from all sections of society attended the last rites performed in the evening. Mr. Pujari was known for his interest and knowledge on folk theatre. He headed Gokak City Municipality Council thrice. In recognition of his contribution to the field of folklore, the Karnataka Nataka Academy honoured him with its annual award.

He is survived by four sons and three daughters.
