4,500 pirated CDs seized

CHENNAI : Police seized 4,500 pirated compact discs during a raid conducted in the Egmore area in the last four to five days and recovered computers among other accessories valued at Rs. 20 lakh.

According to the police, an intensive raid was conducted after they had specific information that a group was about to circulate the CDs in the market.

They searched many outlets and seized CD writers and computers used for piracy.

Based on the confession of the accused, the video piracy wing registered cases and remanded four persons to judicial custody.
