An event special children don't want to miss

CHENNAI:
Dressed in colourful costumes, they sang, danced and entertained the audience at Kamarajar Arangam, as they participated in a competition organised by the Rotary Club of Madras, T. Nagar, and the Neeta Memorial Charitable Trust.
As many as 1,507 participants from 45 schools, orphanages and centres for the disabled participated. All the participants were given a memento, V. Vasudevan, President of the club, said.
Chennai Corporation Mayor M. Subramanian, spoke of the care taken to bring up physically and mentally challenged children. Shoba Rajkumar, a Rotary volunteer, said that the number of participants increased each year.
Ramani Nandakumar, headmistress of Bala Vihar School for Special Children, said the competition was an event the children did not want to miss each year. An eye, ENT and general health camp was also conducted for the children.
The contest is being sponsored by Rotarian Kapil Kumar Maheswari.
