New HIV/AIDS campaigns on Dec.1

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Transition from awareness to behaviour change, reduction of stigma and infections by scaling up preventive efforts were some of the features of the new mission of the Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS), according to director G. Ashok Kumar.

Addressing State-level media consultations on HIV/AIDS on Tuesday, he said the society was all set to launch two new campaigns on the World AIDS Day on December 1 highlighting the need to get a test done voluntarily and ensuring zero positive births by 2007.

Jayanti Rajagopalan, programme officer, Avahan India AIDS Initiative, sought media's help in bringing to light the complexities of the epidemic and the constructive role played by key communities in HIV prevention.
