CHENNAI:
The Assembly will discuss the Tamil Nadu Value-added Tax (VAT) Bill during the forthcoming winter session, Speaker R. Avudaiappan said here on Tuesday.
He told reporters that the session would commence at 9.30 a.m. on December 4. It would adjourn for the day after passing a condolence resolution on the demise of former Speaker K. Kalimuthu, besides making obituary references to some former Members.
The Business Advisory Committee would meet the same day to decide about the duration and business of the short session, he said.
Apart from the VAT Billthe Government was likely to introduce other Bills including the one related to making Tamil the language used in the proceedings of the High Court, he said.
Replying to queries, Mr. Avudaiappan said it would be a great achievement if Tamil was made the official language of the High Court. To another question, the Speaker said he had not received any Bill from the Government on the revival of the Legislative Council. A complete picture of the Government Bills would emerge only by December 1.
A separate chamber would be allotted in the Assembly complex for the leader of the Pattali Makkal legislature party, he said.
