R.L. Kapur passes away

BANGALORE:
Eminent psychiatrist and Professor Emeritus of National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) R.L. Kapur, passed away on November 24.
Dr. Kapur was Director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences and All Indian Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore.
He was the World Health Organisation's consultant in Mental Health for Somalia and Eastern Mediterranean region.
His research interests included social and community psychiatry and cross-cultural psychiatry; youth psychology; and yoga and mental health. He has written a book titled "Mind: Approaches to its Understanding." Among the several scientific papers written by him included "Can Indian spiritual practices be used in psychotherapy?"
The staff and faculty of NIAS condoled the death of Dr. Kapur on Monday. They recalled his contributions and his support for the growth of NIAS.
