Medicos on protest

KOCHI: Students of Kochi Cooperative Medical College are on an indefinite strike in protest against the collection of Rs.14,000 as miscellaneous fee from students who joined the course in 2004. They alleged that Rs.2,500 was being charged as union fee, despite there being no college union. — Staff Reporter

Bomb hoax

KOCHI: A telephone call that a bomb was placed at the Hill Palace Museum, Thripunithura, turned out to be a hoax. The police said that the call was received at the museum office at 2 p.m. A dog squad and bomb squad were pressed into service, but no explosive was detected. — Staff Reporter

Date extended

KOCHI: The one-time payment scheme of the Kerala Water Authority, aimed at helping consumers clear their dues, has been extended up to December 16. The aim is to collect Rs.4 crore through the endeavour. — Staff Reporter

Cruise liner

arrives in Kochi

KOCHI: MV Seabourn Spirit, a luxury cruise vessel, arrived at the Kochi Port from Goa on Tuesday at around 7 a.m. with about 200 foreign tourists. The vessel left Kochi at 6 p.m. This is the third cruise liner to call at Kochi during the current tourism season. — Staff Reporter
