dated November 30, 1956: KGF take-over

Mysore State, well-known for its industries, took a bold step forward on November 29, when the Chief Minister, Mr. S. Nijalingappa, at a brief function held at Robertsonpet (KGF), on behalf of the State, took over the management of the gold mines in the Kolar Gold Fields. The mines, which were being operated by British companies for the past 75 years, will hereafter be administered by a Board of Management, headed by the Chief Minister.
