NEW DELHI: A festival of the best of French films opens at 72 Lodi Estate here in the Capital this Friday. Titled "Rendezvous with French Cinema", the festival has been organised jointly by Alliance Francaise de Delhi and the Embassy of France. On December 1, "Le Couperet" ("The Ax") that has been directed by Contantin Costa Gavras will be screened. The film revolves around a business executive who was given the boot by his company after it underwent restructuring. Now, this former executive is ready to do anything to get his job back, even if it means bumping off his rivals. Olivier Assaya's "Clean" that has a big star cast will be screened on December 8. The film focuses on the life of Emily, whose sole obsession is to regain custody of her son, who is being brought up by her parents-in-law. "Travaux On Sait Quand Ca Commence" ("Work is Known When it Begins") will be screened on December 15. Directed by Birgitte Rouan, the film is about Chantal Letellier, a lawyer who always wins. But in her private life, Chantal, a divorcee with two badly brought up children, is a "loser". On December 22, "Voyous Voyelles" will be screened. Directed by Serge Meynard, the film is about two sisters who live in the poor eastern suburbs. They split their time between the gym and the small apartment that they share with their mother. Directed by Bernard Rapp, "Une Affaire De Gout" ("A Matter of Taste"), about an industrial magnate, will be screened on January 5.
