Autorickshaw fare revision demanded

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Auto Workers' Federation, affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, has demanded revision of autorickshaw fare.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the Federation on Saturday in Dindigul, according to a press release issued here on Wednesday.

The present fare was fixed about 10 years ago.

While the fuel price had gone up since then, there was no change in the fare. So, the Government should determine a "reasonable increase in fare" immediately.

Uniform system

The system of issuing permits for auotrickshaws differed from district to district. A uniform system should be put in place, the release added.
