Top junior players for Brij tournament

HYDERABAD: The country's top ranked junior players will take part in the Brij all-India tennis tournament which is to be held at the Lal Bahadur stadium from December 4 to 9. The tournament is being promoted by Pramod Kumar Agarwal in memory of his father and will be conducted under the auspices of the AITA, APLTA and the HDTA.

Briefing the media here on Wednesday, P.K. Agarwal and APLTA office-bearer Praveen Bhargava said that in the under-14 section the important names in the girls' category were National No.1 M. Divija of AP, No. 4 Nova Akshay Patel of Gujrat, No. 5 Rishika Sunkara of Delhi and several others in the top fifty.

In the boys' under 14 section the leading contenders included National No. 1 Chetan Pandit of AP, No. 5 J.Mohit Mayur of Tamil Nadu and No. 13 Rohit Bisht of Delhi.

It was also announced that there would be three other all-India level tournaments to be hosted by AP soon.

The APLTA would also bid for a Davis Cup match if it was allotted to India in the coming year, said Bhargava.
