ISO certificates

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State Oscar Fernandes on Wednesday awarded the ISO 9001-2000 certificates to 20 offices, dispensary and hospital of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) at its hospital here.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Fernandes said the increasing computerisation will not only bring transparency and efficiency in the delivery of hassle free service to the stakeholders but will also speed up the whole process. The ISO certification was just a timely recognition of ESIC's efforts in this direction, he added. ESIC Director General R.I. Singh also addressed the gathering.

Staff protests

NEW DELHI: A number of Group C and D employees of Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against the authorities for "neglecting the most genuine problems and grievances" of the employees.

Holding placards in their hands, the employees raised slogans demanding regularisation of daily wage employees and filling up all vacant posts

Debate competition

NEW DELHI: Delhi Public School , Rohini, hosted the Dr. P.K. Khasnavis Memorial Debate at its premises here this past week.

The event began with the lighting of the lamp by the school Principal Rita Sen. The competition witnessed the participation of ten schools from the DPS family. Speakers representing various branches of DPS spoke on the topic "Reservation and Progress are not Antithetical to each other".

The trophy for the best team was bagged by DPS, R.K. Puram, while the runner up trophy was won by DPS, Rohini.

Painting contest

NEW DELHI: The "Biggest Chain of Painting Contest in the World for Children on Environment" was held at Nurses Residential Complex in Srinivaspuri here over the weekend. The painting competition on the theme "Save the Earth" was inaugurated by Mahinder Singh, Station House Officer of Srinivaspuri. It will be held in 1,000 locations across the country.

New Colonel

NEW DELHI : Major Gen. Raj Sujlana has taken over as Colonel of the Sikh regiment. A third generation army officer, he was commissioned into the 9th battalion of the Sikh regiment and commanded 3 Sikh which was once led by his father. He has had five tenures in counter-insurgency operations and took part in the 1971 war.

He is currently Additional Director General of Public Information at the Army Headquarters here.
