NEW DELHI: A 38-year-old woman who had allegedly been blackmailing a Northern Railway employee on the pretext of implicating him in false cases has been arrested by the Preet Vihar police in East Delhi. The police found that she was previously involved in at least five other such cases. Rajesh Sharma, a Northern Railway commercial inspector, recently lodged a complaint with the Preet Vihar police alleging that a woman had been blackmailing her. The accused, Kiran Sharma, befriended Rajesh and one fine day met him at a coffee home where she offered him coffee laced with drugs. She then took him to a place where she allegedly got herself photographed with Rajesh showing that they were exchanging garlands. Threatening to implicate him in a case, she asked Rajesh to pay up Rs. 5 lakhs or continue the relationship with her. Finding no other way out, Rajesh kept meeting the woman. However, later Kiran allegedly lodged a complaint with the Crime Against Women Cell and also slapped a civil suit against Rajesh claiming maintenance. Investigations revealed that Kiran had in the past employed similar modus operandi to allegedly cheat other people. Suspecting that she would get arrested, Kiran applied for an anticipatory bail, which was granted to her.
