BANGALORE: A man, who was in the custody of a Gujarat police team that was here, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at a hotel in Shivajinagar on Wednesday. The police gave his name as Sajid (32) of Ambur in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. The Gujarat police had arrested Sajid in Ambur on Tuesday in connection with a cheating case in their State. They had brought him to the city and kept him at a lodge on Lady Curzon Road. They were supposed to take him to Ahmedabad from here by a flight this afternoon, the police said. Around 11 a.m., Sajid went to the toilet at the hotel and latched the door from inside. He hanged himself with a towel from a hook, the police said. The body has been kept at the Bowring Hospital mortuary. On a complaint by a police official from Gujarat, Gaikwad, the Commercial Street police have registered a case.
