Community against Drunken Driving (CADD) launched its new campaign "Project Underage Driving" here in the Capital recently. Initiated by CADD's founder president Prince Singhal, the project includes activities like education of the youth through programmes like open interactions, thematic debate, plays and no-alcohol policy as part of college festivals. Ace golfer Jyoti Randhawa, who has been appointed as the goodwill ambassador of CADD, said: "It's shocking that children as young as 13-year-olds are drinking in our society. There is a need for immediate action to deal with the situation. I am happy that committed people like Prince Singhal have taken up the cause and I would be delighted to lend my support in any way I can." The project involves an inter-college debate competition involving top colleges from across the country. It will be followed by a bike expedition to Chandigarh, where the participants will be carrying the message of "Say no to drunken drinking'' to urban youth. "Project Underage Driving has been launched because of the alarming increase in drunken driving. About 65 per cent of the people involved in drunken driving are between the age of 15 and 25 years," said Prince Singhal. CADD is not against alcohol but works to stop drunken driving so as to avoid accidents.-- Madhur Tankha
